Fashion Starts with YOU
Fashion is the expression of ourselves through clothing and style.
We get to decide who we are and fashion is how we present ourselves and the way we live. It is our identity and our image, and people can often evaluate us through our appearance. Fashion is in essence, a way of living and it is quite a journey to determine our own sense of style and what will influence us, either ourselves or our surroundings.
Dressing is an art in our way.
Having an understanding of our own identity is imperative in developing fashion identity and we tend to develop this sense of style over time. With every outfit we wear; we create memories and form art.
Building a relationship with our wardrobe is very important as each piece has its own story that makes it unique. If we can start with what we already have in our wardrobes as the basis of our style, then we can build on it as we journey along.
However, keep in mind that trends should only be a reference and then adapted to our style. Whilst we may have the same style as others; there is always a different story and feel for each individual. It also doesn’t mean that we are “outdated” if we are not joining the trend. Trends are our reference only and although fashion personnel set these trends; these will change all the time. Many trends are even recycled from history, all of which are inspired by fashion consumers and stories from that time.
Ultimately, we can never feel overdressed or underdressed if we are playing dress-up for ourselves and only we know the emotions we are trying to portray. Fashion and style is meant to be diverse and it can be quite personal. However, our personal style may not just resonate with ourselves, but it can also inspire others.
So get out there and make your own contribution to the industry, find your personal style and influence the next movement.
